Wayne Rooney equals Sir Bobby Charlton’s scoring record!

Wayne Rooney is now Manchester United’s all time top goal scorer together with Sir Bobby Charlton after scoring Manchester United’s opener against Reading. They have both scored 249 goals for the club. Wayne Rooney has managed to do this in 543 appearances for Manchester United.

Rooney signed for Manchester United at the end of August 2004 after a £25.6 million deal was reached. It was the highest fee ever paid for a player under 20 years old; Rooney was still only 18 when he left Everton.
