We drink a drink for Eric the King – Eric Cantona chant

One of the all time Manchester United fan favourites is without any doubt the Eric Cantona. Crowned by the fans as The King of Manchester, his name still echoes loudly in the Stretford End and in local pubs around the stadium before and after every home match. If you visit the most well know Manchester United fan pub, the Bishop Blaize, before any of match you will most probably hear the Eric Cantona Manchester United chant from the one and only fan, Pete Boyle. You can listen to the “We drink a drink for Eric the King” chant and follow the lyrics below.

Eric was born in France in 1966. Although he has played for a number of French clubs and also had a short spell with rivals Leeds United, he will always be remembered for the five years he spent at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson. Eric Cantona won four English Premier League titles during this time including two league and FA cup doubles. He is also famous for his kung-fu’ kick into the crowd after getting sent off in an away match against Crystal Palace in 1995.

Eric the king surprisingly retired from football at the age of 30, scoring a total of 64 goals in the league for Manchester United.

Eric Cantona chant lyrics

We’ll drink, a drink, a drink, to Eric the King, the King, the King,
He’s the Leader of our football team,
He’s the greatest Centre Forward,
That the world has ever seen.

Eric the King is remarkably trendy,
He’s done some modelling around town,
Wearing the best suits up on the catwalk,
While the Leeds fans they just frown.

We’ll drink, a drink, a drink, to Eric the King, the King, the King,
He’s the Leader of our football team,
He’s the greatest Centre Forward,
That the world has ever seen.

On the field it’s almost unreal,
Some of the things that Eric does,
Superb overhead kicks, remarkable back-flicks,
I’m sure the guy just takes the p*ss.

We’ll drink, a drink, a drink, to Eric the King, the King, the King,
He’s the Leader of our football team,
He’s the greatest Centre Forward,
That the world has ever seen.

He once played for Marseille, but never for Arsenal,
Or Liverpool or even Man City,
He had a brief spell there, with the Leeds scum,
Until he realised that they were has-beens,
Only one way now, for Eric to go now,
To the Theatre of our Dreams.

We’ll drink, a drink, a drink, to Eric the King, the King, the King,
He’s the Leader of our football team,
He’s the greatest Centre Forward,
That the world has ever seen.

Ooh aah, ooh aah, ooh ah Cantona!
